Church service had started and the minister had began his sermon in a small country church.  Everyone’s attention was on the intense words being   delivered that would enlighten the congregation on God’s word.

Because the church was so small, there was no nursery.  This gave the opportunity of having a very active three year old, named Tammie, to sit with her mother and father.  Along with being active, Tammie had a gift for words—that is, speaking them.  She had not yet mastered the art of quietness in church,   especially when the sermon was being delivered.

After many admonishments to be quiet, Tammie’s father picked her up to take her outside for a little conference.  This was not the first time such an event had taken place and she understood its significance.  She also obviously understood the significance of prayer.  For as her father picked her up and was walking down the aisle to carry her outside, Tammie reached over his shoulders wit arms outstretched to the congregation and the minister.  She then proceeded to call out to all who would listen, “Ya’ll pray for me!”

Guess it proves we are never too young to let our requests be known.  Nor too old as well.  We have the opportunity as a family to let our requests be made known in several places here at Valley Creek.  But I want to let everyone know about two particular places.  The first is the Partners in Prayer which meets every Monday at 10:00 a.m. in the youth room.  This is a time to start the week in prayer with our brothers and sisters in Christ.  The other is in the new prayer groups that we are forming which gives us the opportunity to pray daily for a specific person or event or situation.  We are encouraging each of you to be a part of these prayer groups and to let your requests be made known.  To do that either call the office or fill out one of the Partners in Prayer request forms in the foyer and drop it in the box.

2 Chronicles 7:14If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.                      Let us be a praying people!
